Project

WHAT IS NEW JEDI?
New Jedi is an European project ( 2021-1-IT01-KA220-VET-000028111) aimed at giving new oppoertunities to people, new breath to the environment and new educational methodologies to the VET providers.
The growth of the demand for food delivery has led to increased use of food packaging to store and transport food.
These packagings are often disposable and non-recyclable, and therefore have a negative impact on the environment, with an increase in the waste generated standing at 46% of all global plastic waste (Statista 2020).
The GENERAL OBJECTIVE of the project is to identify a new professional figure who will acquire the skills required by the changing labor market in the food delivery sector, who is able to provide companies with consulting and management services, with multi-sectoral know-how in the fields of economics, logistics, food and especially in the area of environmental sustainability.

In order to achieve this goal, we envision a series of SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES that include:
– collect, develop and disseminate good practices in Food Delivery that will be functional for the environmental as well as economic sustainability of the companies;
– develop and implement a MOOC related to Sustainability and Food Delivery Expert, professional competent and able to generate a concrete positive impact in the companies in which he or she will work;
– create a network of European stakeholders to promote the development and dissemination of the new professional figure, as well as employment opportunities for the people trained;
– improve the employability of young people and NEETs through an empowerment pathway built around the training course, the mobility experience abroad in a host company and the recognition of skills acquired. Consequently, New Jedi will realize these kind of ACTIVITIES:
– analyze the local context through specific roundtables to understand which are the needs;
– realize an International Workshop to define a professional figure in line with the market’s necessities;
– develop a MOOC about sustainable food delivery management and allow to participants to join a traineeship abroad at some HO.RE.CA. companies in order to apply what they learnt;
– implementation of some multiplier events to disseminate the MOOC and the new trained professional figure.

All these activities will be directed mainly to the following TARGETS:
– companies in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector;
– people to be trained
– particularly NEETs;
– VET providers; –
– public institutions.
Our EXPECTATIONS are related to the decreasing of the environmental impact of food delivery, to making a contribution to the development of the VET sector, to enabling more entities, both internal and external to the Consortium, to connect each other and to the transfer of new knowledge and technical skills to people.

Local roundtables

 Since New Jedi whishes to respond to the new needs of the HO.RE.CA. sector and the labour market in an innovative and eco-sustainable way, the Consortium will map the good practices and skills necessary related to food delivery through the implementation of local roundtables and research activities. These steps will be fundamental to develop a sectoral analysis of the different local contexts and to understand how to define the professional figure of the food delivery expert.

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP

 After the local roundtables, a 5 days international Workshop will be held in Italy. It will be instrumental in the final definition of the doos delivery expert figure. The Consortium will balance the professional skills in order to generate a figure capable of making a concrete impact on the companies in which it will be placed. In addition, during the meeting, the partners will talk about the modules of the training and how to implement the MOOC.

MOOC

The course to train the new professional figure will be implemented locally for a total of 14 participants per country through the first version of the “Food Delivery Expert” MOOC. The MOOC will be based on:

– the goals of a good food delivery service;

– organization of a delivery menu;

– packaging in delivery;

– communication in delivery.

After the completion of the training, some participants can put into practice what they learnt with a mobility experience abroad at companies active in food delivery. Moreover, the experience will be instrumental in verifying the effectiveness of the course implemented, to the empowerment of the learners, from a skills point of view, and of companies with regard to the environmental and economic sustainability of their business.

EVENTS

This partnership foresees to implement 2 types of multiplier events:

1. multimedia multiplier events, useful to:

– describe the professional figure of the Food Delivery Expert;
– share the MOOC;
– recruit participants for the MOOC.

2. dissemination multiplier events:
public and private employment agencies, sector companies, federations in the HORECA sector, training providers and public authorities will be invited to attend a meeting during which the food delivery expert figure will be promoted in order to disseminate the new curriculum and the vocational innovations.
